Hey fellas and ladies, and specifically Graham Scales haha

Having some dramas with my explorer, just in case anyone has has the same issue.

After my last off-road outing the transmission has been stuck in park and I need to manually press the neutral safety switch to get it out of park. Now as we know the brake pedal has to be depressed to get it out if park, so I've replaced the brake switch above the pedal, I've also replaced to sensors in the brake fluid reservoir as they are part of the circuit. And finally just recently I've replaced the neutral safety switch itself. All to no avail and the problem still exists. All these parts were sourced from my parts car which as for as I'm aware did not have the issue im having before it blew its motor.

So next on my list to check is the linkage cable itself, other than that I'm going to have to scour through the wiring to see if anything is damaged.

To add to the issue I have no low range, but I believe this is all connected as the brake pedal has to be depressed to put it into low range.

Comments n questions? Fire away ;)

Free luggage compartment cover for 2005 Ford Explorer, may suit other models. Colour is grey.

It's been sitting around in the garage for a while and needs a good clean but it's yours for nothing if you want it.

Pick up Elaman Creek (near Maleny) or may be able to drop locally for a few bucks to cover fuel.

This pic is not of the car or cover (I no longer have the car) but is just to show what it is.

Hey guys so the new toy has a few issues Trying to work out where to start... — Ford Explorer Owners Australia

Hey guys, so the new toy has a few issues. Trying to work out where to start, have heard a few different stories so was hoping some one could shed a little more light on things for us. Took it to mechanic about engine check light who said the dodgy fuel cap on it may be causing the issue, trying to source one that fits is a pain so far but still looking. Is it worth buying a code reader or just getting mechanic to look? Secondly it appears to have non standard tyres and rims and consequently is throwing up a check tyre pressure light and tyre pressure system fail message. Does the code reader check out those messages too? Any info appreciated, as Im still learning to navigate the explorer forums.

      Thanks

Anyone having problems with air con not working I may have a suggestion to help — Ford Explorer Owners Australia

Anyone having problems with air con not working I may have a suggestion to help

My 2002 4.6 l aircon stopped last week so I checked forums and found a standard problem with the wiring in front of front diff rubbing on a bracket so I thought yes found it

But that was not the problem it had rubbed but not through wiring moved bracket and shouldn't be a problem again

          Still no aircon

So thought maybe out of gas so bridged low gas switch still no go

Couldn't find any blown fuses (which are impossible to get to anyway) so kept looking

Wiring diagram in cd tells me buggerall except the relay in the fuse box next to battery

So I swapped relay from aircon to trailer blinker relay (identical ) Wallah aircon works

So if yours cuts out try relay and I hope that helps

          Regards murray

To those that were interested I ve spoken to my machinist and can offer strut... — Ford Explorer Owners Australia

To those that were interested, I've spoken to my machinist and can offer strut spacers to suit 2002-2005 explorers for $700/set +postage.

These are CNC machined and precision laser cut, then fully welded to as1554 standards.

Finished in satin black to blend in with factory suspension components. Powder coating is available at an extra cost.

These will net you approximately 2.5" of lift, allowing clearance for those bigger tyres.

I can offer a smaller lift if required, or even up to 3", but I would suggest aftermarket control arms if 3" is fitted. I will hopefully have control arms available also on the coming months.

The photo is a set I made for myself years ago, just hand cut with a plasma.

Hi Everyone — Ford Explorer Owners Australia

                Hi Everyone.

                I've a Ford Exploder 2001 4.6 eddie.

I've had an issue with a light squeaking noise around the fan belt area on the right side. I sprayed the pulleys with crc fanbelt grip spray and the squeaking was stopped for 30mins but replaced with a loud sand paper on wood sound.

Is it possibly pulley bearings or do fan belts need changing. When I sprayed the pulleys again the sand paper sound still remained.

I noticed the sound from the right hand side of motors fan belt.

                Any other advice greatly appreciated.

                Cheers.

Need advice — Ford Explorer Owners Australia

                  Need advice!!

Took the engine and box out and now all back in it wont start. Before pulling it out you had to put your foot on clutch to start but even when doing that nothing. I checked the fuel killswitch and thats all fine. Any ideas on what it could be or could i bypass it by a start button to starter when keys on accessories??

                  Please help haha

1999 Ford Explorer 4.0l SOHC V6 — Ford Explorer Owners Australia

                    Hi guys,

I had accident with my 1999 Ford Explorer which left the whole chassis being bent and smashed two windows so I got it certificated as unroadworthy and I have to take it off the streets now even though the engine is still running perfectly (did another 1000km after the accident until the police pulled me over). The wreckers here in Perth don't wanna buy it or give ridiculous prices for it so I just wanted to check on here if someone is interested in either the whole car or just some parts of it.

Just message me if interested or need further information

                    Cheers timo

Hey guys — Ford Explorer Owners Australia

                      Hey guys.

Just picked up an explorer. Need some info.

                      1. Have any of you had your handbrake stop working? If so, was it just the cable and how much did you pay for it.

                      2. I have a squeak coming from somewhere when driving. I think it's possibly a wheel bearing, but I haven't really investigated too much. Only picked it up today.

                      3. The driver side seat is fucked, I think a rail or joint in the frame is broken. Does anyone have one for sale or know where I'm likely to pick one up cheap?

                      (Its a 2001 UT XLT)

                      Cheers.
