Front end is wondering... any ideas?? Are we talking steering box or front end parts?? It's getting worse and the set-up hasn't changed... getting uncomfortable to tow, feel like I'm fighting for control.

Here's her specs: Blue Ox weight distribution and sway control, Firestone Bags at 55psi (everything is level), Michelin LTX a/t2's 60psi front/75psi rear, stock suspension, new OEM rear shocks (fronts may be original?). 2005 diesel, trailer is about 10k with about 900lb tongue weight. What's the best way to deal with stale gasoline? Not in an excursion but you guys seem smart.

It is from a boat I bought that sat for 12 years prior to me getting it. I pumped it all out when I got it. Filled it with 20 gallons of e10 mixed with alcohol. Rigged a junkyard fuel pump into a pressure canister on my air compressor and used the alcahol fuel mix to clean the varnish/chunks from tank.

Then I drained and filled it maybe 20 gallons of e10 fuel again. I figured it would mix with the shit in the tank. Im running it through 2 water seperators and an in line filter here is the gas that I'm still getting pictred. Should I just drain,fill then run it?

Left sat for 3 days right is from the water seperators right after running it

      Have any of you had any success actually buying parts from any of the vendors listed on this site? I have sent at least a dozen requests for quote to vendors that list the black dash I am looking for. Most have photos posted. I include a note explaining exactly what I am looking for and requesting a quote for the part shipped to my zip.

      Of all of them, only one has even bothered to reply and the dash he had was brown even though the listing showed black. The others all just ignore the requests.

      What am I doing wrong?

        Need help! Have a vibration that i thought was the wheel hub. Changed both front assemblies. Still there. Comes after hitting a bump, goes away after another bump or stopping. Tie rods, ball joints, and u joints are tight. Took it into a shop no vibration at all during test drive, checked out everything and said they cant find anything wrong. What could be causing it? Its not felt in the steering wheel but the rest of truck shakes. 02 excursion limited 4x4 v10 181k miles.

        Tires rotated, new brake pads, new front hubs. Doesnt do it all the time not speed related. All help is appreciated. I am stumped!

          Need some recomendations on air intakes Turns out the Donaldson Air Intake...

          Need some recomendations on air intakes. Turns out the Donaldson Air Intake System with the spiral element filter cannot flow enough air to feed a GT38R turbo on a 7.3. Trips the filter minder and collapses the intake air hose as the turbo winds up. I need a less restrictive intake but would prefer one that filters well too for long life. Cost aside for the moment what are the best options for big air flow and good filtration? I don't mind needing to clean the filter even each oil change interval if necessary. I was looking at this AFE intake as a possibility but perhaps there are better options. None of the ones that are supposed to sit on top of the stock air box will work, I do not have a stock air box.

            Need a hand guys

            Need a hand guys.

            Have had my EX for about 2 months, love it so far, it's a 2000 6.8L V10 4x4.

            My issue is that it's pouring rain and my wipers have quit working on me, front and rear, and it appears be the fluid pumps have stopped as well. Had to drive home with no wipers, wasn't fun.

            Now my question is are all of these on the same fuse? I can't find my owners manual and looking through the 2 fuse boxes I can't find a blown fuse.

            My suspicion would also be a wire issue inside the lever, but most times a short in the wire would cause an intermittent issue (usually).

            Signals work fine and high beams as well.

            Any help would be much appreciated. And possibly a pic of which fuse specifically handles those, or relays? Thanks in advance.

              Bae just got steemed. Getting ready for surgery, so this is what I'm getting. All these products are frome bulletproof diesel since they're down the street. Bpd oil air cooler, bpd egr cooler, profesional upgrade packet with plugs and filters and what not. One thing I can't decide on is do i go stock turbo or what should I look in to. I'll pull something here and there nothing that heavy or extreme. Truck is studded just can't decide on the snail size. I do have a heavy foot and love speed thow. Any suggestions. I guess I should mention it's an 03 6.0

                So I have a 2004 6.8 4x4 that we just purchased 6 months ago when my wife got stationed in Puerto Rico.. The roads here are terrible with massive potholes. I have chased down most of the rattles and squeaks but there is one in the drivers kick panel floorboard area that I just can't locate and it drives me NUTS!!! Has anyone else experienced this drivers kick panel floorboard rattle? I have had it on a lift on base 3 times and nothing under the truck is loose that I can see. But I can clearly feel in my left foot when I am driving a vibration in the floor that coincides with the rattle noise. Any help is greatly appreciated!

                  Okay, sat in my Ex for a few minutes to answer emails after I shut it off after driving about 20 minutes this morning. Heard a faint hissing/sizzling noise? (which I thought might have been vacuum/defrost related at first) and then noticed the battery and ABS/CEL were very dimly lit. After a couple of minutes, a click and a single door chime. And then the theft light started blinking fast, before stopping all of this after a few seconds.

                  Does this sounds like a windshield leak/fuse box issue like I've seen people post about? It did rain last night...

                    Got disgusted with the cheapo LED strips I installed a few months ago - three out of the six malfunctioned and the pvc tubing mount looked a bit strange. Decided to upgrade and switch from purple to blue.

                    Found these on Amazon - 3w LED light pods - a set of six. Made harnesses and tied to existing running board (removed) wiring. Put one on the frame pointed at the ground by each door and added one for the front of the truck and one under the hitch. Used super heavy duty 2 foot zip ties to fasten them to the frame.

                    Super bright and heavy duty - will get some more pics tonight of them actually lit... Lol

                        AC gurus, I'm stumped. Been fighting a leak on my wife's 03 6.0. Finally determined it was the condenser leaking, so I ordered a new Motorcraft condenser and swapped it out. Pulled a vacuum on the system and got it to 29.5 inches of vacuum, left it pulling for over an hour. Shut everything and it held the vacuum for 1+ hours without any change.

                        The issue is on filling the system. Hook my R134 up to it, purge the air out of the charge line and then open the manifold up to the low side. Almost immediately it "fills up" and doesn't take any refrigerant, sitting at around 80psi (most likely can pressure). I let it sit there, but nothing seems to be flowing into the system. Started the truck and turned the AC on, no change. Jumped out the low pressure switch to get the compressor to pull it in and that barely did anything, although I didn't leave it for long as to not damage the compressor. Am I dealing with some kind of blockage? Any help would be appreciated!

I'm all bullet proofed up after blowing the engine twice while towing up a mountain. first go around was a bad rebuild as they didn't machine the heads. Sadly, I've neglected the undercarriage and it has a lot of rust. All the bushings are bad, etc. When, the undercarriage gets blasted is it ok to have it done with the body on or is a better to remove it and do a bunch of stuff. I've read about different springs, etc... I've no clue how much all this will cost and I am not able to do it myself. I am in Eastern Virginia. -Paul

                            2001 Ford Excursion Limited 7.3

                            Decided to put my Ex up for sale. I sold our camper and have no use for a big diesel rig anymore. It runs and drives great. It's a beast! 252k miles S&B intake, 4" turbo back exhaust, Hydra. I have a KC Turbo billet wheel and 360 bearing kit that hasn't been installed yet. I might still get to it. Also have Edge Insight CTS2 with EGT probe brand new in the box. If I get these installed I will have to raise the price a little. This is a Minnesota truck so it has body issues. It will not win any beauty contests but it is a dependable, tough truck. It has the "door ajar" issue. Door lock actuators do not work. Put new locks in the doors but needs actuators. Have new ignition to match door lock key but need to have dealer install that due to PATS. Interior isn't great. Looks like a 16 year old interior that's seen a lot of kids and home improvement projects. It is a Limited though so there's that. It has a 3" lift and brand new 34x12.50x18 BFG's on it ($1600!) I'm sure I'm forgetting things but if you're interested, great! Let me know....

                            This is a 16 year old truck that runs and drives great but has its quirks. I'm not interested in trades and I'm not desperate to sell. $8000 is the price. No more. No less. Take it. Leave it. It's all good!

                              I got my 2005 excursion about a month ago. When I got it there were no dome light bulbs. The rear switch at the hatch had three positions. In the middle spot is stays on. I think that the rear dome light should work with the door switch. I noticed the driver's door would never show open. Kirby Kappes helped me get the right parts to fix that. Today I installed dome light bulbs and it won't go off. The dash shows all doors closed. The dimmer is not switched to max. The two buttons on the console will not turn it off. Anything else to check?

                                Side Shot Saturday! Most of the rest of my Facebook folks probably wouldn't understand why I took a picture of this moment. Today, I hooked the big trailer onto the Excursion for the first time! Got it up on a block to change the one absolutely flat tire so I can drag it down to the tire shop and replace the others soon. I pulled it for several seasons with an E-350 ambulance, it has sat for a while (with the race car inside) due to some life changes and a new job, but now that I'm off on the weekends and not flat broke all the time, and since the Excursion is back on the road & doesn't seem to squat too much, I'm gonna clean up the paint and redo the inside and maybe we can do a little more dirt racin' soon. ;)

Fml rear brakes hanging up again!!! I did not replace rubber lines . All else is new ,But I did replace all brake fluid . Lubed caliper slide pins with ford supplied grease and pad slides with brembo snyth lube all seams to be intact . Any clue on what is going on this soon. Just FYI I have been a mechanic for over ten years and Iv never seen a caliper act like this ever ! Let alone two! Left hangs up way more but right side also drags

                                      I'm playing with the Idea of swapping the 10 for a 7.3... Or Cummins, I found a great deal on the two, the 7.3 I have to remove from the truck it's in, low mileage,truck was totalled and it's sitting in a buddy's workshop since the accident. The Cummins is out of a 3500 Ram also decent mileage. I won't even tell you what I can have either for,you wouldn't believe me! I'm just trying to figure out end costs... Converting this will need all new harnesses,hardware etc... Anyone that has done this swapping here, your input would be helpful in getting to that end number,my EX is in mint shape for an 01 . Is it worth the while to do such a swapping, or just to go buy another one that has it already and start from scratch rebuilding!?

                                        Well I've officially became a rescue owner. Saved this one from the scrap yard after insurance wanted to total it out. I'll have a salvage title on it now but it just means I'll have to keep it forever lol. They're sending someone out to appraise the actual value (not book value stock) and then we go from there. They stopped totaling the values when they reached 75% but said it would have been well over the 100% mark of $6300. (Again stock value) so we will find out soon what they really value my truck for. Wish me luck!

                                          There has been lots of talk on this forum about mirrors but now that I am actually trying to purchase them, its proving more difficult that it should be. My Ex has the puppy dog ears with turn signals and heated glass. I want the style below with power fold, smoked turn and clearance lights. Power telescope would be nice but not required. Want high quality.

                                          I am not afraid of doing wiring myself but any pre made plug in harnesses that are available to make the job easier and the control switch would be great too.

                                          I contacted 1A Auto and they told me they do not have anything. I know that is not true, even if I have to buy separate parts rather than a kit. Not trying to go cheap, want quality. Perhaps I should be looking at OEM but thought lots of folks here had used ones from 1A and were happy with them.

                                            Two questions, looking for suggestions.

                                            First, the Wilco swing away spare tire hitch/reciever was a good idea.. However, getting a 38x15.5 inch Tire on a 20x10 wheel UP ON the carrier poses a problem I hadn't really thought about... hi lift jack? Or one of those winch mounts that's goes into the hitch to field dress a deer?? How the heck do you get this Tire up there?

                                            I'm 6'0", and the center mount is about shoulder height....I'm a big guy, but I can't put it up there by hand!!!

                                            Second, only thing I ever tow is my bass boat, nothing super heavy, but need a huge drop hitch compared to the 4 inch drop before I lifted it. Looking around at a couple sites, based on a 34 inch height at the top of the receiver, their charts say an 18 inch drop? Sound about right to some of you? 10 inch lift on 38's, had a 4 inch drop when it was stock...

                                              3rd owner and only been in NY for 4 months. After months of searching I flew to West Virginia for this because I couldn't find a clean one with the options I wanted in the north east. The previous owner was a retired US Army vet and took good care of it. Truck has 126kmi, egr delete, upgraded all aluminum intercooler, 4" MBRP turbo back exhaust, edge tuner, 20x12 Hostile Sprocket wheels with Federal 35" tires, 2007 style grill and headlights, Pioneer DVD in dash radio with Bluetooth and reverse camera, rear DVD system but only works with headphones, limo tint in rear with front door windows 15%, captains rear seats.

                                              The truck runs perfect and had an oil change with Rotella synthetic, fuel filters and coolant flush done less than 500 miles ago. No vibrations or weird noises and runs perfectly smooth down the road. All leather is near perfect other than light wear on the driver's seat as pictured, one small dent on corner of front bumper, sunglass holder hinges are broken and rear tv doesn't stay latched up. All rockers are perfectly clean with no rust as well as underneath the truck. Wheels and tires are perfect with less than a thousand miles on them. Previous owner had the turbo rebuilt at 99kmi but I have no documentation. I have never ran the tuner above tow mode and the previous owner told he didn't either, the motor has not been studded. I don't know what kind of lift is in the truck other than the 2" front shackles I had put in so the tires didn't rub and the dual front shocks seen in pics. The truck shows 4 codes, one for EGR which has been deleted and glow plug 1, 2 and 3 that need replacing. I can have the glow plugs done if absolutely necessary. I have a clean and clear NY title in my name. The one and only reason for the sale is my wife and I decided to buy a new house so I'm freeing up some cash.

                                                  Need some advice..... we have a '03 Ex 6.0 Diesel. Coming home from CA it broke down twice. Had to leave it in NM to get looked at by mechanic. Right now he says Blown head gasket,

                                                  Bad injector oil pump, glow plug module, injector module, EGR cooling system. We are lost on what to do. Get it fixed, try to sell it? We bought it a year ago and just paid it off. We bought it because we have a large family and plan to travel/tow with it within next few years. Should we just get a rebuilt engine? We are both upset and not sure what to do. Mechanic still looking over truck. Any ideas?

                                                    HELP I haven t had my ex for over a month now and I m starting to have...

                                                    HELP!!! I haven't had my ex for over a month now and I'm starting to have withdrawals! It all started with an annoying vibration. When I would coast over 55mph and begin to slightly accelerate I would feel the vibration at my feet and it seemed to keep getting worse.

                                                    After researching I read that the most likely cause of the symptom is bad u joints. So I replaced the rear u joints and the next day one of the snap rings came out, back u joint fell out and BOOM the transmission cracked.

                                                    I had it towed to a recommended local mech shop. They replaced the transmission and rebuilt both front and rear driveshafts (new u joints). They gave me the truck back and I gave them $3k.

                                                    The next day I noticed the original vibration was still there so I sent it back in. They again rebalanced the rear driveshaft, replaced the rear pinion bearing and still hasn't fixed the vibration. Now I'm $4,200 in this (I only paid 6k for her)!

                                                    They said they pulled the rear differential off the truck and drove it down the highway using only the front driveshaft in 4wd and said the vibration was gone!?

                                                    From the sounds of it they are about to throw in the towel… Any advice guys?

                                                      It was a southern truck and there is no rust damage on the body. The plastic 'steps' on the sides of the truck are the only place that are rusted underneath, they don't hold a lot of weight.

                                                      Needs exhaust work and a fuel filter.

                                                        So just got back from my trip down south. I did a couple things on this trip. #1 I turned the bully dog to extreme

                                                        #2 I used Schaefer fuel additive

                                                        #3 I drove 2 different speeds

                                                        I have been getting 17mpg tuner on no power with no additives not watching speed with around 3 to 4 people daily driving

                                                        On the way down there loaded and 7 people I drove 80 at about 2300rpm and got about 18mpg. I thought that was ok.

                                                        On the way back I drove 75 at about 2150rpm and got about 20mpg.

                                                        I know my dodge didn't like over 80 and would really suck fuel over that speed. Does the excursion not like over 75? It rides like a champ all speeds but thats a big difference in mpg. IV double checked my #s and it adds up. Just thought that was interesting. Turning the tuner up did help

                                                          Got a great deal on a new hitch to replace the rusty OEM one.

                                                          Looking at the job, I can see I need to remove the fuel tank skid plate. Not bad. When I remove the four bolts holding the skid plate, are they supporting the fuel tank as well or just the skid plate?

                                                          Next, do I need to remove the fuel tank to get to the trailer hitch bolts?

                                                          Any other tips or suggestions on replacing the hitch? I do note that the new hitch does not come with the mount for the trailer connector, slick suggestions on fixing that up?

                                                            I recently had the 6.0 motor egr deleted and installed head studs. I drove the ex roughly 600 miles and now it won't start. Fuel pressure is good oil pressure is good. I don't believe it's the ficm, because I didn't feel any issues or misfires before I parked it. It just won't start. The truck will turn over with no issues just won't fire. The injectors are new as well. I was thinking it could be the cam positioning sensor or crank sensor. Basically I'm just looking for input or information that may help.

                                                            The only code it's throwing is p0403 and p0405 and it seems as though both are related to the egr.

                                                            I have not put a tune on it yet.

                                                            Anyhow thanks in advance for any information.

                                                              OK guys I need some help. Last weekend I took my ex 6.0 to the black hills, put about 1100 miles on it. While on the way back it started to run very rough when stopped/idling. Goes fine down the hwy. I've been messing with this thing for the last two days. Cleaned ebp, map lines. Pulled EGR, was clean,. Changed oil filter, and installed blue spring, tried unplugging icp It ran fine for a couple hours this morning, then back to the rough idle. Ficm is 49 volts. Could it be my fuel pump on its way out? Anybody else delt with this problem?

I love my Ex and when I can do what the jeep guys are doing with an almost 9,000lbs beauty it makes me and my family smile, plus makes all the jeepsters pissy....and being the Beast of the Trials makes it that much more satisfying.. any suggestions would greatly help or info would be great !                                                                   I m wanting to take the Excursion interior light override modification a step...

                                                                  I'm wanting to take the Excursion interior light override modification a step further and was interested to see if anyone else has done similar or has diagrams and such.

                                                                  I'd like to tie the interior lights into the photocell on my Excursion, since it's equipped with the automatic headlights. Reason being, if it's dusk/dark, I'd like for the interior lights to come on with the doors being opened. However, if it's day time, the lights are pointless anyways. You're probably thinking, too much work for the end result, but I've got several kiddos that try to help me make sure no interior lights are off, when in reality they are turning them on (accidentally). Also, with the large quantity of kiddos, sometimes I come home from work and a door isn't fully shut, causing lights to remain on.

                                                                  Just went through a large ordeal with the FICM due to battery and alternator issues, don't want to have to pay that price again. So I'm trying to determine every step possible to help in aiding that.

                                                                        HELP PLEASE.... Just found that my X had the dash lights and stereo on, must have been like that since I parked this morning! Had a hard time starting it, despite the strong cranking (to my surprise).

                                                                        Just got back home, and wouldn't shutoff, even with the key off. Disconnected the batteries until I have time to get out there and start diggin'.

                                                                        Could something with the ignition switch cause that?

                                                                        While I don't see any signs of water inside, it did rain this morning. Could it be the GEM? One of my kids told me that he found the radio on about two months ago, but hasn't happened to me since.

                                                                            Stock 16" excursion wheels and brand new wheel caps. Powder coated less than a month ago. Never had tires mounted. Won't work on my E350 super duty work van (only reason I got them) so my loss is your gain. All have been media blasted and power coated semi gloss black. Will NOT find a nicer set. As I said, the caps are BRAND NEW, never been installed, and are painted to match. I just want to get my money back from power coating and price of caps. I'll eat the cost to media blast and have the caps exact match painted. Looking to get $550. Preferably pick up. If serious, well figure out possible shipping. Will drive to meet within a reasonable distance. Pic of 2 but they all look the same and same quality. Not home. But can get more pics if you need them. Thanks.

                                                                              Some time ago, I had a problem with the dome lights not shutting off. I concluded it was due to too much dirt in and around the contacts. A thorough cleaning and all was well.

                                                                              Last night, I had the problem again. This was after I replaced the cluster bulbs with LED's, and after I took a few photos of my new and improved cluster. I noticed that when I shut the driver's door, the lights would go out sometimes and sometimes not. Sometimes, they would come back on! A few times, they would go out and if I shook the truck, they would flash on and off in concert with my shaking.

                                                                              The last time I had a problem with the lights not going out, it was the back gate. So, even though I hadn't opened that, I took a look and cleaned it out. When I closed it, the lights went out! And then came back on. I went back to the driver's side and rocked that truck. Got a nice light show doing that.

                                                                              By now, I'm scratching my head and thinking I'll have to disconnect the battery for the night. I went around to the passenger side and tried opening and closing the back door. That's when I noticed it. Wait for it................... the front door had been open the whole time.

                                                                                Yes it required a little welding and I had them make an adjustable sleeve so that the kit wouldn't be permanently welded to my XRF tie rods in case I need to adjust 1 the alignment and 2 replace the tie rods.

                                                                                All in all super happy with the outcome!

                                                                                  I am going to look at a 2004 Excursion with the 5.4L and ~90,000 miles.

                                                                                  I know most people prefer the diesels, but is the 5.4L capable enough or is it a dog in the Excursion? This will be used for family trips, so it would be driven on highways and back roads through the Allegheny & Appalachian Mountain. (I-64, I-70, I-77, I-80, ...) Towing a small trailer for dirt bikes from time to time.

                                                                                  Anything specific I should check.

                                                                                  FWIW, I have had several Dodge and Toyota trucks over the years, so anything specific I should check or know about Ford would also be helpful.

                                                                                    Okay guys, Ol faithful has been fighting me these past two weeks. Between getting bad fuel and hard starting then running like crap for a few days to now an O/D light flashing.

                                                                                    Got the fuel issue fixed but this trans issue has me a little confused.

                                                                                    Some times it starts flashing when you first start it up and flashed for a min or two then goes off.

                                                                                    Pretty much every time now that ill get out and leave it running for a few mins while running into a store or whatever it will start flashing but will go off once i start driving.

                                                                                    Runs and shifts fine, no issues. Trans was built back in july and cant get it into the shop till monday.

                                                                                    Any simple things to check?

                                                                                      I immediatley lay on the whoa peddle and I'm gonna hit this jackass... NO!! I'm not wrecking my Ex... crank the wheel left,barely miss this inbred fuck and end up off the road on a gravel shoulder.

                                                                                      Ok... Start turning to the right to get back on the road and here goes the ass end kicking out.. fuck it. Time to play dirt track.

                                                                                      Lay the wheel back to the left and mash the throttle. Drove it right out of the slide and back onto the road.

                                                                                      9,000 pounds worth of truck getting tossed around like a dirt track car. Yeeha! Wife was freaking out. I did at first as well when I thought I was gonna splatter that little S10. But once I realized I was past him and the ass end kicked out, I was having fun.

                                                                                      But I DON'T want to do that again. Thought my Ex was a gonner.

What is the absolute best suspension you can get for these beasts (Excursions) that are great for off road and on road feels like your riding in a luxury car? I have been looking, reading, and have already tried the Rancho 9000 with 5000 dual steering stab. with all new front end parts still not getting that ride I want. Please if you don't know fine, if you really have a real known solution I would appreciate it. I am after 8 months looking at Carli, has anyone heard of or have his suspension on their excursion? I have a 2002 4x4 v-10 thats been a great truck from mile 1 and will never be getting rid of it, so money is no problem. Thanks again..

                                                                                            My boy Marcos Gallardo over at Douglas' Auto Paint & Body Shop has killed the conversion on Kaylas excursion. Once the bumper is mounted and it's painted it will look factory!

                                                                                            I'll post pictures of the finished project in a couple weeks. Next week we install the new interior, and the lift, wheels, and tires!

                                                                                            It was hard lettin them tear apart a 1 owner low mileage excursion but it'll be worth it when it's finished!

SB air filter, amp electric running boards, air lift rear air bags with compressor,external oil cooler with dual filters. Originally from Arizona, cowl hood needs paint, the only rust spot is by the sensor on the rear bumper.. never laid rubber it's was my family traveler..looking to buy something else, it's located in Northern CT sick of looking at it,don't use it much since I moved up from Fla.. $15,500 come and get it

Started with rebuilding of the shift mechanism in the steering column and then progressed to fluid and new ATS covers on both differentials and a new steering stabilizer. Front cover needed a bit of work to make it fit but got it done. Used the lube locker gaskets and no rtv this time. Sealed right up with no leaks fist try. Flushed the power steering fluid and even found my OEM door unlock code right were the youtube video said it would be! Glad to be back at work today to rest up.

Instead of parking on the other side, we unloaded all the kids and all of our bags, took them upstairs, then had my wife put me on speakerphone while I guided her into park inbetween both douchebaggish cars. Lol. May not seem like much, but there was only a couple of inches to spare. And if then swipe our behemoth on their way out, oh well. It's a steel 8,800lbs suv. I've got a 5th gen camaro too, so I know the body panels are soft and are costly, and the Buick Regal is sitting too pretty for the guy to get butt hurt.

I'm going to post three photos. Notice the ground looks burnt. Also the outer glow plug circuit pin is melted on both the harness and the VC gasket. Could this be my issue based on the ground alone? I was getting a glow plug communication to the PCM code. No ground means no power to the passenger side bank which is why I couldn't get an ohm reading on my glow plug check last night?? Anyone have this issue before and the replacement fixed your issue?

Has a edge tuner and rear air bags for towing. Has a new starter, water pump, brake lines, and front end freshened up. Needs a front leaf spring but is still drive able

                                                                                                        Interior is in good shape, is the limited so it has leather interior with 3rd row seating, dual climate control, and overhead console.

                                                                                                        Overall a great truck that has been maintained and has tons of life left. Wouldn't hesitate to drive to California tomorrow if I had too.

Free admission, free lunch, and rows-n-rows of cars, how could we say no? I found a white F-350 pickup with grey interior and I was kinda excited when I saw the lower dash -- the latch is broken on the little mini glovebox, but I think I can make something work... What I'm wondering about is this nifty little factory trailer brake control. The manufacture date on the truck was May of 2005, so can I possibly make it work in my 2000 Ex? Or not? I pulled as much wire out as I could, but I never came to any sort of a plug-in, so I cut it out of the harness. I got it for eleven bucks, so I really can't complain at all, I'm just wondering if that brake controller will work at all. (the truck was pretty grubby, sorry I haven't cleaned it yet, we just got home, lol)

                                                                                                              Today I rebuilt the shifter in the steering column. New shift tube, new shift lever, new bushings and the excuse for doing it now, my refurbished steering wheel came it. Frustrating job but got it done and back together. Dropping the steering column down sure helped. My back will never be the same after contorting like that :-) Ahh the joys of wanting to own a 15 year old truck. Shifter works smooth as can be now and the new steering wheel feels great. Tomorrow I finish installing sensors for the Edge Insight and change the diff fluid on both ends, install new diff covers. Oh boy!

Wife's 2004 Lexus is300 just got diagnosed as needing the motor replaced. Car still runs at this point but will probably go at anytime. Mechanic said 5300 to install a reconditioned motor and in his opinion if it was his personal he would fix it cause he could do the labor himself and the car is in great condition otherwise. But for me he suggested to by another car. My question is how do I figure what to sell the car for? I would part it out but I don't really have the room nor the energy after my bypass surgery so any thoughts and how to a asking price for it would be appreciated.

It's a 27' on a 22 foot trailer. I was restoring the boat for about a year. I live on the water and plan to never tow it. But it's time to launch it. The ramp is 1.5 miles from my house. Since this large ass thing is on a tiny trailer. There is NO tongue weight. My 6 year old can lean on the back of the trailer and it shoots up to the sky.

                                                                                                                  I'm thinking to just go to the ramp at idle speed so there's no chance of wrecking with this thing. Any better ideas ?

                                                                                                                    I had not parking break action, so I adjusted and it's grabbing again, but my only issue remaining, is there is not parking break light on the dash still. The only reason it is an "issue" is I think that because there is no signal lighting up the light is why the head unit won't show the video when playing a DVD. I may be wrong, but would like to eliminate that as a possibility.

                                                                                                                    So in short, how do I get the Parking Break Light to function when the Parking Break has been applied?

I was driving to town to get oil change supplies when my daughter called screaming frantically about my oldest boys eye falling out. So, as most of us parents would do, i freaked out, flipped a u turn and put the hammer down. Roughly 6 miles to home and i had it floored the whole way. 95 tops. Got home and ran into the house after sitting the X down. Boy was fine, little cut over his eye lol. Ever since the X has ran horribly. Keeps throwing P0304, P0316 codes. Ive changed the COP, the fuel injector, the spark plug, both the COP and Injector connectors. Still same issue. Idles rough, poor fuel consumption, and same 2 codes coming back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a 7.3 with just under 300k ok it. Has some typical rust. I got it for a steal for 6k. Had it inspected by a very reputable diesel shop here. They said the best taken care of 7.3 they have ever seen for the age. So far I have done an s&b air intake, 4" mufflerless exhaust, sct custom tune, ordered wheels and tires and doing a 5" super lift. Next is to fix the rust custom stereo and center console. Lighting, custom roof rack, bumpers, winches (yes plural), and rhino lining the entire truck. Will keep everyone posted as it goes. So far I love the comradeship this page has.

If so, what worked out for you? I am looking for 2 compact amps, one under each seat. One a 4 channel for the main speakers and one a mono for the sub. But they have to fit in the space inside the subframe on the floor so the seat still functions.

                                                                                                                              Alternately, other suggestions on locations to mount 2 small amps? Is there any space behind the panels in the back on either side? I have thought about mounting the amps inside the rear barn doors but that seems a wiring nightmare. Under the 3rd row will not work as I need to be able to flip the 3rd row forward or remove the 3rd row for cargo.

                                                                                                                                Since seat covers comes up fairly frequently, thought I would share my experience with the Cabelas Trail Gear universal seat covers. Keep in mind, these are on sale and pretty cheap, $38 for buckets and $26 for the bench, but are actually pretty well made!

                                                                                                                                Personally I don't like how the first row fits with seat controls and the arm rest so I will be returning them. Pleasantly surprised how well the 2nd row buckets fit! I may cut in a hole for the arm rest but for what I need them to do, (protecting leather from kids in car seats) they will work fine. 3rd row bench is a little too wide but it cinched down pretty good and covers the leather up, once again protecting it from the kids. Probably will get custom for the first row sometime. Like I mentioned, I primarily have 4 car seats in my vehicles so folding the seats is not a big deal to me so if you want to do that, they are not the covers for you. Pics to follow.

                                                                                                                                  Trans was rebuilt last year under previous owner. Shop won't honor warranty since it was sold. (Assholes).

                                                                                                                                  Initially I thought maybe it needed a tuneup. No C.E.L. to indicate faults.

                                                                                                                                  Need to get it on a scanner to be sure no soft codes are present.

                                                                                                                                  Full tune up is planned for near future including fuel filter,coils and plugs.

                                                                                                                                  Motor has 385k on it.

He just got cleared for full duty and cleared to ride his motorcycle. While riding over the weekend a truck pulled out in front of him. After the crash the subject driving the truck left the scene while Kevin laid in the street. Because of the length of time he was on light duty he is almost out of leave, and since the other person left his family is currently stuck with the bills and he will probably only be getting half pay checks to stretch out the rest of his leave. Anything would be helpful including prayers. Thank you!!

I pulled a P0683 after a no start. GPR communication issue. I ran a meter and the relay is good. I changed out the CPS just in case it didn't pull a code. My ICM is working because pulling off the clip for the 750psi default did not change anything. My IPR is one year new from a engine overhaul a year ago. The nut on the end is there and tight. HPOP level is perfect. So, can anyone offer advice where to go from here. I am stumped. Thanks. Any questions you have I will answer immediately. Took off work today to fix this.

Some VERY nice rides here! Ive had a few f250's but we do quite a bit of traveling with the kids and sports so Ive been tossing the idea around of a 7.3 excursion. Im just wondering if there are any around me that are for sale that aren't priced out of my range?

                                                                                                                                              ok i need some input. we have already done the rear spring upgrade but now its time for airbags too. our new toyhauler is requiring it. i already have the sway control, level bars, etc. it tows great but i want to bags for keeping level with extra weight. i dont need any other comments unless it has to do with bags.

                                                                                                                                              that being said, i have found 2 companies, Airlift and Ride-rite. does anyone have any pros or cons to either of them. i have a ride-rite kit on my F350. who has used what system on their Ex and did you like it or not and why. they are both about the same price. one has a slightly different bracket design than the other. i am ordering tonight so i can have them before the weekend. lets hear you thoughts, preferably from people with experience and not keyboard mechanics.

                                                                                                                                                  2004.6.0 4wd is in the shop and I dropped off new front sway bar and end link bushings for them to replace while they are in there. Mechanic calls me to tell me the end link bushings are incorrect and I need to replace the entire end link, and that the bushings i gave him were only for the rears, as the fronts can't be repaired, only replaced. Is this correct? I thought i had this well researched and wanted to stick to OEM links and saw many just replacing bushings. Even a dealership mechanic told me on pre purchase inspection that the front end link BUSHINGS needed replacing. ADVICE??????

The previous owner built it to tow a camper but never did buy one so its had all the right things done. Just had a full detail so it's extra clean for now.

                                                                                                                                                        I know I've been posting a lot lately, but I feel this one could be important. My steering has always felt a bit loose, but has been worsening the last couple months. Think of the steering wheel as a clock, I had about 3 HOURS of play in the steering! I finally crawled underneath tonight and noticed the nut on the Pitman Arm was a bit loose, almost flush with the end of the threads. After tightening that down properly, there is a night/day difference. Almost NO play whatsoever! Now I'm going to have to return all the replacement pieces I ordered online.

                                                                                                                                                          Sorry for asking the same question again but here goes....I'm still getting a vibration around 75 mph. A couple mph above or below it goes away. If I'm going up a small hill on the interstate, it increases with acceleration, decreases with deceleration. It only happens within about a 5 mph window. I have replaced both u joints and rebalanced my tires. I have also had the vibration for so long that the tires have been rotated with no results. I appreciate all the suggestions, but I'm hoping someone has had this same problem and knows exactly what to do to fix it. I don't want to do trial and error replacing parts. It's an 02 with the 7.3. Thanks for everyone's help.

                                                                                                                                                            Followup to V10 gas mileage - good to see that some of you have also had decent MPG with V10's. With my 2WD (now my son-in-laws) I made over 15 regularly and going 65 could get over 16 - now with my 4WD I was getting 15 at 65 until I spent some money on a kit from 5Star Tuning - now I am getting 15 @ 70 and even better at 67 (seems to be a sweet spot there) so this week I am putting LT285/75/16's on and will see what happens. Should give me 70 @ the same RPM as 67 is now and I need new tires anyway. Here is the link to the kit both my son and I Purchased. He hasn't installed his yet as they were both shipped to my place.

I ordered a set of Ultimats, 3 rows in parchment to fit the Ex. The color chip they show is a dead ringer for the factory carpet. What i got was a set of 3 mats in a very light tan color. I contacted CarID where I purchased them but was promptly told it was up to Lloyd and they asked me to send a photo of what I received. Here is what I got sitting in the truck so you can see the contrast. Also I will post the color chip. Not a happy camper and these were NOT cheap.

Moderately loaded for 5 days at the beach. Roughly 200 miles each way. I normally run 55/55 psi daily. (daily - 3rd row out but my tow bucket with straps and different ball mounts and tools along with a various content usually 100lbs load, etc in the back). Unfortunately I am not going to have time to chalk the tires with this load to get a proper reading for the trip. Think I'll be fairly close? Possibly go to 60 in the rear with the added peeps?

Looking to get rid of spacers so I need to change the setup. If I recall correctly it seems there was talk of a Harley Davidson 18" wheel that has the correct backspacing to fit our Ex's properly??

                                                                                                                                                                    These in the picture are an 08 F-250 Harley Davidson 18" wheel. Am I off on this or did I find what I need? Really like the OEM look for my setup. Thanks to all!!

Runs great, drives good. All new ceramic brakes, new sway bar links and bushings, 2 brand new Interstate batteries, brand new starter, new rear tires, new HPOP, new IPR valve, transmission has 40k miles on it, new belt and tensioner, LED headlights, LED tail lights, Kenwood in dash nav with bluetooth, rear buckets, rear dvd.

                                                                                                                                                                      This rig is all stock. 4x4 works great. Turn key, drive it home. Comes with 5 fuel filter kits and five oil filters. Very, very reliable. Truck has 430k miles, top end was redone by previous owner. No proof of this. $6500 firm. This truck is 99.9% rust free. Only the rear bumper has rust around the sensors.

                                                                                                                                                                        Well, I realize this may not be the "right" group to be asking, but figured most of us are not strictly excursions owners. Looking for input from those who have done cab swaps etc for super dutys... I am looking to purchase a 2001 f550 7.3 single cab, 14ft bed. My boss has several 6.4 trucks that are parted out - I would like to do a whole cab swap by installing a 6.4 crew cab onto the f550 frame. I have done some googling but the information is limited. Admin if this is not allowed please delete, but if anyone has experience with this or knowledgable input that would be greatly appreciated. The two photos are the exact trucks, I understand the flatbed will have to be shortened, dash wiring swapped and odds and ends like brake booster mounting on the firewall and getting all the 6.4 electronics to work ( I've read quite a bit on the dash swap and interior swap for 08-11 onto a 99-03 7.3. Just looking if anyone has done anything similiar or there is something I am over looking. Thank you all for your help.

They mount in the cubby hole to the left of the cup holders in the dash, usually where we all toss our cell phone.

                                                                                                                                                                          You will have to drill a hole in the back of the pocket for the pigtail to pull through. Then these have hooks to hold them in place on the back of the face, they work very well. You can easily unplug this TBC and remove the pod and TBC when not in use. I've had this mounted in my truck like this for a few weeks and it usually only breaks loose when going over rail road tracks. Or you can simply put a little silicone behind it to hold. It this can also be permanently mounted by removing the lower portion and drilling holes in the side of the pocket for the screws.

                                                                                                                                                                          These take 20 hours to print and I feel the price would be competitive given the amount of time to print and design. I made this because I wanted one and thought it was a great idea, thought I would share. They can be painted to match the color of your interior.

                                                                                                                                                                            My good friend and neighbor recently picked up an 03 EX, 7.3 and I've been helping him get it sorted out. One issue we haven't been able to resolve is the front axle looks shifted to the driver side about 3/4" too much. He just had a shop install new springs, shocks and had it aligned but the issue remains and the shop didn't know why. I recommended he install a new track bar however, when two that he ordered weren't the correct one for some reason (multiple versions I suspect), the shop re-installed the original and claimed it was good and they didn't think the trac bar would fix this issue . Below are some pictures - Any ideas or recommendations?

This is my 5th excursion in 6 months but I'm finally keeping this one. It's roughest one I've ever owned. The nice ones I keep selling and making money. This one I plan to bury myself in, monetarily. This is Friday after 979 miles in one day coming home from Florida. It's a one owner with 273k miles on 6.8. Dogs and kids destroyed interior and 60 year old driver scratched and dented outside. No sweat though. King Ranch interior from 08 F250 going in. 12" lift and 40s on 24s going under it and as soon as someone buys my cherry no knock no issues V10 it's getting a built 5.9 Cummins it. Bought ranch hand full replacement bumpers today to. Think all the gold is becoming black because the wheels are black. See comments for few random pics. Owned a dozen of these at least but welcome ideas and thoughts to this build. Gonna be the one I keep forever... (I say that every time but I really mean it now!

With that being said, has anyone done the 17 f250 tails ? Was thinking about buying some and having my body guy put them in but man it's hard to take a chance on doing something like that with this.

Swap sides with the covers! Just figured this out. At 456,000 miles my driver side armrest had seen better days. I found an ex in the wrecking yard that had a good passenger side armrest so I snagged it. It then occurred to me that if your armrests are cracked, you can swap the covers (not the whole armrest) side to side and have nice armrest for free! The bottom of the passenger side cover is now the top of the drivers side and vice-versa. Now, getting the cover off is like helping your lady get out of and back into tight, tight jeans! Lol. But you can make your interior look a bit better for free!

                                                                                                                                                                                      The Ex I purchased had a K&N intake on it from a previous owner. I checked the turbo and blow by and engine is running fine but I knew I wanted the K&N off the truck. This weekend I installed the Motorcraft FA-1759 Donaldson Sever Service air intake kit. I actually expected a slight performance drop.....Nope, the Motorcraft intake FAR outperforms the K&N. Significant seat of the pants improvement. Turbo spins up much quicker. And before anyone asks, no the K&N was bright red and not really dirty at all.

                                                                                                                                                                                      If anyone wants a K&N intake kit for a 7.3, its sitting on the floor of my shop in Houston. Not shipping it but if someone wants it, I can hold on to it till you can stop by and pick it up. Its free, aint going back on my truck.

So i recently bought my wife a 2001 v10 excursion. After driving it i immediately fell in love and now i want one for myself. I am looking at getting a diesel but would like some advice on it. i don't need it for towing nor do I plan to but I like having the extra power and capability of doing so. So my question is to all my 6.0 and 7.3 owners. if I get a diesel what should I expect by owning one? I've read that maintenance is key, (oil change every 5000 miles and fuel filters every 10,000). Anything else i should expect by owning one? Or should I stick to getting a v10? I know the price alone on a diesel should stop me but my love for these trucks makes me overlook that

                                                                                                                                                                                          It has 378,xxx miles but runs good always starts right up even in the winter. Has a new starter, water pump, and belt tensioner. Also the whole front end was rebuilt with receipts.

                                                                                                                                                                                          The interior is in good condition and could use a good cleaning but it's not a pig stye inside either. Everything but the above head console works as it should.

                                                                                                                                                                                          The body of the truck overall is in good shape it's got some bruises here and there but overall not a terrible truck.

                                                                                                                                                                                          The truck could use TLC as with anything but it could drive to California tomorrow if you pleased.

No lights on dash, 1 owner MA truck well maintained. Runs and rides smooth as glass, no leaks. All power options work, has good load range E tires. Body and undercarriage are clean with the exception of rust on the rockers and some rust on the wheel wells. Needs very minor tlc, driven daily with no issues. Starts right up on the coldest of days with no ether and no block heater. Bought another 3/4 ton pickup and would hate to see this sit. Asking $7,500, open to reasonable cash offers.                                                                                                                                                                                               Sad to say, but we have to sell our Ex. 2003 V10 with rebuilt engine in 2016. Bought her just under a year ago when we moved to Florida so that we can tow our boat, but then we found a crazy deal on a larger boat we have always wanted. I believe this is a Florida EX all her life. OI do have a clean Carfax for it. Engine was rebuilt in April of 2016 in Jupiter Florida. This has been my daily driver for about the last 8 months. Runs excellent. Zero mechanical issues. Excellent AC front & back. Does not leak a drop of ANYTHING! No rust at all. This EX has zero jog and the suspension is tight. I do not believe it was used to tow or had heavy loads, as the ride is really good. It drives straight as an arrow. Very good interior. Good body overall, too. Check out the photos. This 2002 never had a rear bar installed. What a difference! Installation was a breeze. Dealing with New England cars all my life I couldn't believe a 15 year old vehicle with a hundred and forty thousand miles on it still allowed everything to come apart with hardly any effort on a hand ratchet ! Crawling underneath I was able to find a majority of the stickers and paint markings on the frame and all of the lines , the backing plates still had paint on them , in the air conditioning lines haven't even oxidized enough to remove the layout clamp location markings. All of this would be gone by the second winter in New England. Something to say about Southern cars lol
