So I got my bronco back today, 96 5.8. It had been at the mechanics for the ac and abs light. I went somewhere, stopped, went in for an hr and came back out. When I started it up the brake light was on but the parking brake wasnt engaged. Wouldn't go off so I drove off. Then the od light was flashing on and off, trans wouldn't shift, blinkers didn't work but the flashers did. Stopped, shut it off, same thing but with the check engine light on. Shut it off for 10mins, turned on, lights are all off and blinker is working again. Any clue what happened?

Practiced on my old bronco fender for wheel arch job, I've got some high spots that could use some grinding as well as a bunch of burn throughs. If you are installing a patch panel and get burn throughs do you fill the holes with weld ? Or would I recut a panel and start from scratch. Also what are methods to get a precise fit of the new panel? The reason I was getting burn throughs is the gap was too big in a lot of places. I used the intergrip clamps and it made the gap way to big. I'm using .25 Lincoln mild steel wire.

SAS Swapped guys question. Who's running duff long arm kit? I have a d44 hp. I was planning on running my factory 95 eb upper coil buckets but it's causing my +6 coil springs to bow out. My question is this, what upper coil mounts are you using. I'm looking at 1500 just for long arms, shocks, mounts etc. Is it worth it? I plan it being a daily driver/rescue recovery trail truck. Also any pics and measurements are greatly appreciated. Trucks been down for a lol over a year now waiting on me to finish swap so I don't want to waste any more money than I have too. Thx.

So I have been hearing a tapping noise on my 88 bronco 351w with a C6 trans, when its in drive you hear it and it taps faster when you hit the throttle. The things I've replaced and have done: rod bearings, tightened one loose rocker arm, and new EGR and tube. Ive checked the lifters and torque converter bolts and it still taps... Nothing looked unusual when changing the rod bearings but didnt change the oil pump which I should have. Is there anything else that I might have over looked? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

1980 5.8 351m. Im having a small issue that I cant quite figure out. 3 days ago I noticed my temperature slightly higher than normal, on the A in normal and sometimes L, use to be on the M. Truck isnt over heating or anything yet, but im trying to find out what changed. Water pump, thermostat, radiator, and coolant are all new/newish. Top hose is hot after drive and bottom is warm so I know the thermostat is opening. Im going to replace the radiator cap this afternoon after work, hopefully thats the problem. Ideas?

****EDIT: not sure if it means anything but my coolant level in my overflow tank never changes

Ok Early Bronco guys and gals

I made a trip up to Colorado this weekend to pick up a car. I stopped in to meet Don Allison . If y'all don't know him you should !!!!!

He is a super nice guy and is neck deep in Bronco parts .

He has stacks of Early Broncos laying around his place . Frames , tops , axles , all sorts of body parts , a few fairly good resto candidates . Lots and lots of stuff !

He is looking to clean it out this summer . He's an older guy a little hard of hearing on the phone so he prefers to Email or Text .

I don't think he would be much for shipping parts but honestly you should just go there with a very large trailer . Haha ! He isn't on FaceBook yet maybe someday so I'm going to post this in all the groups . Hopping it helps him and someone looking for parts .

Tell him I sent you .

              Hey Bronco Buddies, 2 things!!

              1. This is a pressure switch on the end of my master cylinder to cancel cruise control

(96 XT). If fluid leaks into the plug this is what you get, there should be a fusible link to avoid this. Apparently Ford had a recall and service bulletin but is no longer active so they will not repair this so be careful many stories of houses burning down. I believe the dealership said they could sell me the fusible link but I really don't use cruise control so I opted out.

              2. I would like to remove this Burnt mess and put a plug in its place. Does anybody know if these are special threads or just NPT?

Thanks for the ad. I just bought my first project Bronco. It's a 94 Eddie Bauer with a 5.0. At this point, it will only crank with starting fluid and blows black smoke. The previous owner thought that the problem may be related to the computer. I switched out the fuel filter today and the gas looked clean on both sides. Also, I can hear the fuel pump running, so I don't think that it's the issue. For what it's worth, the oil is very clean. I tried to hook a scanner up to it and realized that it doesn't have an OBD port, so I will have to do some research on that. Any input on possible problems or where to begin looking would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Notes: After repair of wiring and sensor vehicle operated normally than started acting up again. After replacement of safety switch vehicle started acting up again, after replacement of ECM vehicle operated normally for a short period of time than symptoms returned. The only component I haven't replaced is the shift control module/solenoid in the trans itself.

I have a 1994 Ford bronco. I was considering on removing the hardtop and putting on a soft top like this. Has anybody else done this? How hard is it to do it? Or is it better to have a professional do it? My long-term goal is to have all the carpet removed. And to have the floor rhino lined. So that way if it does leak a little bit I don't worry about running the carpet. Thanks for the help I appreciate it

Anybody know much about Re-Calibrating your speedometer. Using the single service wire under the glove box. I used multiple calculators to find the exact number (+/-30cal).

I understand the flow of data. Short and sweet If the psom isn't adjusted correctly performance is affected. But i feel like i had more hp + tq when it was reading way wrong.

                            I have a 96 Bronco 351W Monster trans

35's 6" rough country lift and 4:56 gears

The psom used to read 972CAL until i adjusted it

which seemed correct for bone stock configuration.

3:55 gears 29 inch tires. That calculated (942+30)

                            With 35's & 4:56 gears comes to 807CAL (777+30)

Which is as close as my math goes.

777 wasn't quite right. With the added factor of 30

And with my speedometer now verified with gps and hud.

Is Dead on, however considerably less POWER.

                                Quick question

I just took my bronco down to NC, about 130 miles. It made it down there without any problems, as soon as I got back to town I hit the taco bell drive through and the truck just cut off. Not out of gas, wasn't over heating. Then I went further down the road and it cut off again at the light in front of my house, barely started this time. Then when I pulled in the driveway before I put it in park it cut off again. Again, not overheating, put coolant in it before I left. Anybody know what could cause this? Maybe it was just from the long drive? I didn't have any problems going down to NC or on the way back until I hit town

I recently bought this 1989 bronco. 351w, with auto trans. It's runs good despite having a stuck lifter. Lots of rust underneath because it is a northern vehicle. The frame is solid but it looks like I'm going to have to replace the leafsprings, hangers and also the floor boards before too long.

The inside is in excellent condition and the previous owner gave me receipts for all the work that has been done to it over the last two decades. Paid $1,000 for it.

Anyway, this is my first bronco I have ever owned. (Actually first Ford of any kind I have ever owned. Lots of old jeeps, Chevy's and dodge, but never owned a Ford before.)

Can anyone give me some tips on what to look out for or keep an eye on? The truck needs work, but is there any particular issues that tend to give people trouble with this year or engine?

AutoZone said that's the one ford recomends. so I asked, well can I get one that runs 180 instead cus it's overheating with the 195 temp. and he said he wouldn't recommend that cus ford dosent say that. and it will have problems if you put a 180 in it. is this guy full of it or what? someone tell me. ? Ladies, Gentlemen..

I'm at my wit's end here. I'm absolutely losing my mind. I'm having massive electrical issues. (For reference, 1988 Fullsize EB w/ 302 and auto trans)

So i started off with an issue that made it so I couldn't fire up my truck after a long drive, it would act as though my battery drained (ie a bad alternator)

I replaced damn near everything. Starter, starter solenoid, alternator, battery, etc... Didn't solve the problem

It sat for a while because of my frustration.

Fastforward a year. I decided to get her running again. Got a new battery, plug wires (mine were shot from sitting against the manifold), new throttlebody (mine was stuck WOT), fired her up, and she ran great (still with the old issue of not firing up after driving for a while)

THEN i started running into new issues. When I would hit a bump, my truck would sputter and die. Then it got progressively worse, and if I drove it more than 1/8 mile it would sputter and die.

There will be a few other tidbits of information I'll think of after I post this, that i'll add later.

Any input it GREATLY appreciated.. I'm about to just buy a whole new engine wiring harness.....

Factory rear end needing work, running 16 inch f250 wheels with adapters, wanting to upgrade to rear disc brakes as well, 3.55 gear. Looking at swapping complete rear from something that already has disc brakes without breaking the bank. Later model f150 rears with disc brakes have different lug patterns, if I switched to an early 2000s f250 it would be difficult to find a 3.55 gear, thinking of maybe a 2003 or so dodge 1500 since 3.55 is common on them as well as disc brakes, but thinking that they came with at least 17 inch wheels, does anyone know if 16s with 2 inch spacers would clear the calipers or have a better idea? I'm building a Cummins and 5 speed to go in this beast.

If you order the ford racing timing cover for a 302 with standard rotation ports and you are running a reverse pump with serpentine you must use the ford racing reverse water pump or a mustang pump from 1985-1993 reverse rotation my life is amazing Again. Now to tailgate and welding in patch panels. My life is hell right now, my timing cover was leaking after 6 months, just redid the job. I bought an OEM ford racing timing cover which is apparently universal. Filled in up with coolant only to find there is two holes near the ports I should have plugged up. Leaking water like crazy I now have to remove water pump and install two plugs. Here is a photo of the timing cover I pulled off beside the one I bought from eBay. I also pulled the part from a parts catalog. See the extra hole to the right of the port on left side and the one to the left of the port on the right side those are the holes I guess I need to plug. Is this truly a universal timing cover? Or did I just get best for 90$ and have to redo this whole job ? See how the ports are angled opposite ? Some please help I'm miserable.

Recently, I've been having a loss of power. I was concerned about oil pressure, so I converted my oil gauge to properly work. Obviously there are no numbers, but by all accounts, it seems to start up and hold 60psi or so for quite a while, until it warms up. Then it seems to come down 40ish, and then 20-30 when truly warm throughout. The pressure properly comes up when throttle is applied, and drops when idling properly once warm. But now I notice while idling, the oil pressure drops slightly, and a half second later the motor stumbles. I think I caught it twice in this video.

I'd like to add this is in MAF, so it should be idling baby's ass smooth.

It's clear about the :27 mark.

Any ideas what it could be?

I'm beginning to think it's something internal.

Well I shredded one of my tires Friday driving home from work and the rest aren't looking that good either. So new tire time! Looking at BFG all-terrains either getting 33"x12.5" or 32"x11.5".

Bronco is a 1991 sitting stock right now. Probably spend about 90% of the time on road but being in Hawaii I drive about 50mph max on the road but mostly around 35mph. Most of the off roading is beach driving or mud.

Which tires do you think I should get?

So my wiper motor crapped out this week, and in trying to replace it, I rounded off the bolt that connects the linkage to the drive shaft. I was just about to bust out the Dremel to cut it off, when I decided to check the Internet.

Turns out, the only brand new replacement motor (not remanufactured) comes with a new mounting bracket as well as a new bolt through a new arm attached to the drive shaft. It was only a $5 or so difference from the reman units that don't have these extra parts.

I promptly ordered one from my local parts house, and should have it today.

Just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone in this same boat.

So a few weeks ago I went out wheeling in a flood and got my OJ stuck in a 3ft trench on my right side. Winched out just fine but now usually, but not always when I first start up in the morning the steering is super stiff. Almost like there's no powered steering. I hear the pump and a few quick turns to the left and right gets everything loosened back up. It still rides straight down the road, no bump steer no death wobble, alignment is still good and it doesn't have any issues once it's loosened up. It does have a new steering box, but wasn't doing it until the it got stuck. Any ideas?

I had to order it online because not a single store in a 50 mile radius carried it. Now the new one (left) and the old one don't match up at all. It said it was made "for my truck". Is there literally anything we can do without having to order a new one. We both work in the morning and I need my truck to get to work so it has to be done tonight. It's a 94.

I'm no electrical engineer but I'm assuming this is corrosion and possibly a short based off the brownish color on the board. Any recommendations? Can this be fixed or do I need to fork out the cash for a new ECM?

New fusible links, new starter sylenoid, new ignition switch, new starter switch, new ground cables and positive cable, And guess what!!! Still have NO Power!! I'm about ready to tow this thing off a Cliff! Only thing I'm thinking now is the ECM is fried! I'm at a loss and getting beyond frustrated! Is there a voltage regulater on these? My question is wether or not there is suppose to be a cap that prevents the spring from pushing against the u joint?

Cranking the key makes it roll over twice, then it stops. This has happened before and I don't know what fixed it. It's carbureted with a mechanical pump. It has fuel/fuel pressure. I know it sounds crazy, but could someone have possibly installed some kind of switch that kills the truck when it runs out of fuel? It could also be bad timing because my electrical is very touchy. The actuator broke and I ran a push start button using a 20 amp switch and 12 gauge wire to the solenoid. The only problem with that is it runs way too high resistance and melts solenoids and wires
